Perfect for afternoon sipping, citrusy bergamot enlivens the bold flavors of gunpowder green tea. A lighter take on a classic, this Green Earl Grey is a hand-crafted blend of Chinese gunpowder (Pearl) green tea and organic bergamot essence.

Earl Grey is one of the most well known scented teas in the west, and perhaps the first scented tea. Its popularity parallels that of Jasmine tea in China and Chai in India.

This is a hand crafted blend of organic Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea and organic Bergamot Essence.

High Grade Organic Green:
Although there are several types of green teas, we choose only a select grade that balances well with the flavor of Bergamot.

Calabria Bergamot:
In making Earl Grey, the leaves are infused with the oil of Bergamot – a Turkish name given to a pear shaped citrus fruit – Citrus Bergamia.

Reggio di Calabria in Southern Italy is the native growing area for ‘Citrus Bergamia’ Bergamot. Its arrival in Calabria is shrouded in mystery and, even though it grows elsewhere, only in this area does it give us the essential oil popularly used to make Earl Grey tea.

This is no ordinary bergamot – our source creates this essence by steam distilling organic bergamot citrus rind, resulting in especially bright and clean flavors. We use a small batch process to blend the bergamot essence and organic green tea, which helps maintain an even flavor profile — often ignored by large mechanical processes.

The oil is also widely used for aromatherapy treatments and is known to have calming properties.

Green Earl Grey pairs especially well with breakfast breads, rice desserts, vanilla ice cream, and slightly spicy foods.
